PONY SPRING TOUR BROADMEAOWS

The Pony Spring Tour moved to Broadmeadows last Sunday and was justly rewarded by the huge entries which had been evident at the first two legs of this league. With an amended schedule to cope with the numbers the 128’s had an early start with a 90cm warm up class. This was followed by the 128 Spring Tour which saw 36 starters from which there were 26 clear rounds, and a further 10 clears against the clock. The lead changed several times during the jump off making for some very exciting jumping. Susan Fitzpatrick had a brief glimpse of the top slot stopping the clock in 36.79 only to be overtaken by Sophie Buller whose time was 35.69. Next was Mike Foley riding ‘Thingamajig’ whose time was 34.12 again to be beaten by Anne Marie Dunn on ‘Snapwater Jack’ who broke the beam in a time of 33.12.Holly Sweetnam finished in a time of 35.29 for fourth place aboard ‘The Liitle Hero’ , last to go was Sophie Buller on ‘Star Spangled Banner’ she had all to play for but as her time was 33.89 she had to settle for second place.

The 138’s followed with a field of 41 starters from which there were 17 clear rounds. 13 went clear in the jump off where local rider Matt Garrigan riding ‘Cider Girl’ took the honours stopping the clock in a time of 28.03. Second place went to Molly O’Shea who made her journey all the way from Cork worthwhile aboard ‘Stoney Burke’ in 28.23 seconds. Grace Allen making her first appearance in the Spring Tour took third place on ‘Fountain Ranger’ in 28.29 seconds with Kerry Taggart ridng ‘ Sakama Chezni’ into fourth place in a time of 28.98 to earn some valuable points on the leaderboard. Fifth went to Thomas Foley aboard ‘My Little Lady’ in a time of 29.03 with sixth place going to Killian Norris riding ‘Boom Del Peguilli’ in 29.06 seconds.
